MAYA MUSHROOMS LTD
Our journey began in 2018, cultivating mushrooms in a 40-foot shipping container amidst the vibrant energy of Bristol, UK.
Six years later, we’ve expanded our operation into our new 5,500 sq.ft. facility nestled in the serene ancient woodlands of the Forest of Dean.
Our facilities include an ISO-5 Rated Cleanroom, a specialised laboratory, computer-controlled industrial autoclaves, and ample space to support the wider mushroom cultivation community.
We offer an ever-expanding range of premium mushroom cultivation supplies, equipment, kits, and cultures, all designed to make your mushroom-growing experience productive, rewarding, and deeply satisfying.
Be light, be love. ❤️ have a blessed day. x

GROWING A FUTURE…
Maya Mushrooms is transitioning into a non-profit to make functional and medicinal mushroom cultivation more accessible, affordable, and sustainable across the UK.
By reinvesting into growers, research, and education, we’re creating a self-sustaining network that reduces reliance on imports and strengthens local food systems.
Our mission is simple: heal people through fungi, support UK growers, and expand access to nature’s most powerful resource.
To make this vision a reality, we’re launching a crowdfunding campaign – helping us scale up production, reduce costs for growers, and accelerate research into the healing potential of fungi. Every contribution brings us closer to a future where high-quality, UK-grown mushroom supplies are available to all.

Our Community / Environmental Goals
Working in harmony with community and nature
❤️
Free Education to Schools, Colleges and Local Communities
We are working hard to develop a range of free educational resources, mushroom cultivation workshops, and courses to local schools, colleges, and community causes in and around the Forest of Dean. We aim to educate people young and old about the importance of consuming healthy, sustainable, and locally-produced food, with a focus on fungi.
Zero Waste
Food waste shouldn’t exist. We strive to be zero waste, with all unsold fresh produce either being dehydrated (ideally, using our sun’s energy) for sale later or donated to local food banks, homeless shelters, community kitchens or other good causes that help support our local community.
Fair Prices with a Fixed Mark-Up
No one wants to overpay for their food. We keep our expenses low, stay flexible in our business operations, and set a pay cap for all staff at the UK national average wage. Our goal is to make high-quality food more financially accessible to everyone.
Locally Produced. No Chemicals or other Nasties.
We were born to eat food, not chemicals. We will never add nasty chemicals or fillers to our foods and always aim to sell our produce the day we harvest.

Our Targets
Education, Partnerships and Empowerment
🐟
Creating Job Opportunities for Disadvantaged People
“Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, and he’ll feed his family for life”.
We are working on launching an online mushroom cultivation course aimed at providing supported online learning opportunities to those in our country who need it the most. Furthermore, we plan to offer opportunities for selected course graduates who have demonstrated their mushroom cultivation abilities and eagerness to learn to join our team.
Community Engagement Programs – Food For Free
Monthly trips out to the woods plugging felled and fallen trees with specially selected edible gourmet mushroom mycelium; a straightforward, social, and highly effective activity that can provide hundreds of kilos of gourmet mushrooms accessible to the local community for many years to come.
We aim to record all results and locations on our online mushroom map, with all donations being used to support future Community Engagement Programmes and Free Educational Resources for all.
Community Farm Partnerships
We imagine a future where gourmet mushrooms grow alongside other vegetables at numerous community farms throughout the UK.
If you are a community farm interested in growing mushrooms, we are here to assist. We can help you raise funds, set up the container, provide training, and supplies. Please get in touch to discuss further.
Growing mushrooms in shipping containers is a great way to introduce another revenue stream to your farm, diversify your product range, and make the most of small areas of unused land.
